Shermin S. Ali-Andani is a partner with the law firm of Whitted Takiff LLC. Prior to joining the firm Ms. Ali-Andani clerked at the Office of the Cook County Public Guardian and volunteered as a guardian ad litem for Chicago Volunteer Legal Services GAL for Minors Program.

Ms. Ali-Andani has also held various positions in her community. Previously, she served as in-house counsel for the Midwest Council, providing legal support and risk management guidance to the institution and its programmatic boards. Presently, Ms. Ali-Andani serves as a Member of the Aga Khan Conciliation & Arbitration Board for the Midwestern USA, which is a faith-based community organization that provides pro bono alternative dispute resolution services. Ms. Ali-Andani has a Certificate in Family and Divorce Mediation. In January 2012, Ms. Ali-Andani was appointed to the Illinois Muslim American Advisory Council’s Policy and Legislative Affairs Committee by the Office of the Illinois State Governor.

Ms. Ali-Andani received her law degree from DePaul University College of Law and earned a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration (Organizational Management) from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign (College of Business), with a minor in Sociology.

Her practice is concentrated in the areas of school law, special education law, child welfare, and mental health law. Additionally, Ms. Ali-Andani’s area of practice includes representing private and public school clients in matters related to general contract matters, employment agreements, employee handbooks and policies, general employment law, and student handbooks and policies. She is fluent in Urdu/Hindi.
